Bitcoin ETFs Post $3.8B Inflow Streak, Strongest Three-Week Run of 2026

US-listed spot Bitcoin ETFs pulled in $986.9 million over the week ending Sept. 5. That capped their strongest three-week inflow stretch of 2026 at $3.8 billion in net additions, according to SoSoValue data.

The run included a $730.9 million single-day haul on Thursday, the funds’ biggest day since Jan. 14, when they drew $843.6 million, per SoSoValue. Net assets across the 11 funds rose to $103.3 billion on Thursday. They settled at $101.3 billion by Friday’s close, pushing cumulative net inflows to $55.6 billion.

The inflows came as bitcoin whipsawed. The asset dipped below $79,000 on Friday before reclaiming $80,000, having traded in a $76,000-$81,000 range during the week, CoinGecko data shows. Bitcoin traded at $79,716 at press time, still up about 2.6% over the past seven days.

BlackRock’s IBIT dominated both sessions. The fund drew $454 million on Thursday, roughly 62% of the day’s total, per Farside Investors. Another $117.4 million landed on Friday, accounting for two-thirds of that day’s $174.6 million in net inflows. IBIT alone had pulled $503 million as recently as Aug. 20.

ARK 21Shares Bitcoin ETF (ARKB) and Fidelity’s FBTC rounded out Thursday’s leaders with $137.7 million and $74.4 million, respectively. VanEck’s HODL and WisdomTree’s BTCW were the only funds to bleed, losing $19.6 million and $5.2 million.

Friday told a thinner story. IBIT and FBTC were the only funds to see net inflows. Every other spot Bitcoin ETF recorded zero net flow for the day.

The demand rotation favored Bitcoin over its closest peers. Bitcoin ETF inflows climbed about 7% versus the prior week. Ether ETF inflows collapsed 74% to $218.4 million. XRP ETF inflows dropped 83% to $19 million, SoSoValue data shows. Ether ETFs hold roughly $863 million in year-to-date net inflows; XRP funds about $515 million.

Despite the three-week surge, year-to-date net flows remain roughly $1 billion negative. That is a reminder that inflows have only recently reversed heavy early-2026 outflows.

The positioning backdrop is less clean than the headline. CryptoQuant, in a Thursday report shared with Cointelegraph, said the recent rally was driven largely by traders closing short positions rather than opening new longs. The firm pointed to limited fresh buying demand. Bitcoin holders realized 23,000 BTC in net profits on Aug. 21, the highest daily amount this year, and roughly 110,000 BTC in total since Aug. 19.

“A decisive close above $83K would confirm the new bull market,” CryptoQuant said, while a rejection could trigger a pullback toward the 200-day moving average near $69,000.

That $83,000 threshold is Bitcoin’s 365-day moving average, which the analytics firm said has historically marked the divide between bull and bear markets. Bitcoin reached $81,400 on Aug. 28 before retreating below it.
