Dallas Mavericks owner and billionaire investor Mark Cuban is revealing some of the large cap crypto assets in his portfolio.

In a new interview with Real Vision, Cuban says he has owned Ethereum (ETH) for at least half a decade.

“I had a bunch of Ethereum from when it first came out, or about a year after it came out, and then I bought some more a few months ago. I forget how many – six, seven months ago, whatever.”

The billionaire investor and Shark Tank star says he will increase his Ethereum stake if the price pulls back dramatically.

“If Ethereum goes back under $1,000, then I’ll buy more.”

Cuban says he also owns Litecoin (LTC), along with the decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols Aave and SushiSwap. He also owns the native token of digital collectibles marketplace Rarible after selling artwork on the platform earlier in the year.

“I bought Litecoin, LTC. And then recently, because I wanted to understand DeFi more, I bought a bunch of Aave, and I staked a bunch of it. And I also bought some SushiSwap (SUSHI). And since I did stuff on Rarible, now I have RARI tokens, and I’ll see what happens with that.”

The Shark Tank investor additionally says that he will increase his Bitcoin holding if the price crashes.

“… if Bitcoin craters, then I would buy more.”

Per the Dallas Mavericks owner, his combined cryptocurrency portfolio is large enough to put him on a “whale list.”

“It’s like I’ve got a lot, you know. Every time they list the whale list, let’s just say my private wallets that everybody else, thank god, doesn’t have after some of them came out, or one of them came out, I’m in that. So it’s big enough to be on those lists.”

In late January, Cuban exposed an Ethereum wallet address while promoting artwork on Rarible. Most of the cryptocurrencies in the exposed wallet were DeFi altcoins.

DeFi TVL quietly climbs to record highs while the NFT boom subsides

Hype cycles can work wonders for token prices and social media statistics, but they also bring increased pressure on developers to launch a functioning product that validates its rising market cap.

As nonfungible tokens took center stage over the past six weeks the decentralized finance (DeFi) sector took a break from the spotlight as developers refined their protocols and sought out interoperable, Ethereum network alternatives.

Data from CoinGecko shows that the total value locked (TVL) on all DeFi platforms has steadily grown since the market pullback at the end of February, with the TVL for the entire DeFi sector now standing at a record-high of $74 billion.

A closer look at the list of protocols shows that some of the biggest gains over the past seven days were on protocols operating on the Binance Smart Chain (BSC). BSC has emerged as one of the go-to competitors for the Ethereum (ETH)…

Collectibles giant Funko shares surge after acquiring NFT app Tokenwave

In a flurry of price action reminiscent of 2017 mania, shortly after announcing that they had acquired NFT display and tracking platform Tokenwave, pop-culture collectibles giant Funko’s stock (NYSE: FNKO) rallied over 20%.

Unlike many price-pumping announcements heavy on hype and sparse on content from the last bull run (and the dozens inevitably to come over the next few months), Funko and NFTs may be a perfect fit, however.

On Thursday the creator of the widely popular Funko Pops collectibles line announced in a press release that they had acquired a majority stake TokenWave, the developers of the TokenHead NFT app built on the WAX blockchain. The release notes that the investment is their “initial entry into the NFT market,” and that the company will be releasing digital collectibles at a $9.99 price point starting in June.

Additionally, the company has physical-and-digital hybrid products in the works, such…

Next up, Bitcoin ETF by Fidelity: Crypto funds batting .000 against SEC

With more than 35 million customers, $21 billion in revenues and $3.8 trillion in discretionary managed assets, Fidelity Investments is one of the largest investment management companies in the world. It may need all its heft to break the losing streak of crypto-fund sponsors that have gone up against the United States Securities and Exchange Commission.

As reported, Fidelity filed with the SEC on March 24 a preliminary registration statement on behalf of its Wise Origin Bitcoin Trust — an exchange-traded fund that would track the performance of Bitcoin as measured by its Fidelity Bitcoin Index. This followed similar SEC filings this year from WisdomTree, CBOE/VanEck, NYDIG Asset Management, Valkyrie Digital Assets and SkyBridge Capital.

A Fidelity Bitcoin fund would be an event of some historic importance. According to Nik Bhatia, author of the book Layered Money: From Gold and Dollars to Bitcoin and Central Bank…

Chainlink releases native Substrate module to bring its oracles to Polkadot

Polkadot and Chainlink have announced the release of Chainlink’s Price Feeds as a module, or “pallet” in Polkadot terminology, for the Substrate blockchain framework.

The release means that any project building on the Substrate framework — which includes Polkadot and Kusama parachains, as well as independent blockchains — can integrate Chainlink oracles through a simplified library.

The announcement comes as the latest result of a long-standing collaboration between Chainlink and Polkadot, now offering a tangible product that can enable a number of DeFi-centric use cases on Polkadot.

The integration as a Substrate pallet means that it is up to each individual parachain to integrate and enable Chainlink oracles. This is a significant change from the architecture used on Ethereum, where Chainlink nodes regularly publish price data on each block, which smart contracts can then choose to reference or ignore.

On Polkadot, the more flexible design means that parachains that do not…
