Chainlink Bridges Wall Street’s $80T Market with ’24/5′ Data Streams

Chainlink has launched “24/5 U.S. Equities Streams,” a high-frequency oracle service designed to pipe U.S. stock and ETF market data on-chain continuously. The infrastructure targets a persistent liquidity gap in decentralized finance (DeFi): the mismatch between crypto’s 24/7 uptime and Wall Street’s rigid 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM ET trading window.

LINK traded laterally at $12.63 (-1.1%) following the announcement, reflecting a broader market consolidation rather than an immediate speculative impulse.

Closing the ‘Ghost Hours’ Gap

Standard on-chain feeds typically go dark when the New York Stock Exchange closes, leaving DeFi protocols blind to after-hours volatility. This latency forces decentralized exchanges (DEXs) to either pause trading or rely on stale prices, exposing liquidity providers to toxic flow during market opens.

Chainlink’s new streams cover pre-market, regular, after-hours, and overnight trading sessions. Crucially, the feed delivers more than a simple “last trade” price. It provides cryptographically signed bid/ask spreads, trading volumes, and staleness indicators, data points essential for automated market makers (AMMs) to price risk accurately when liquidity thins out overnight.

“[This] enables us to extend our fair, low-latency perp execution beyond regular market hours without compromising data integrity.”

Institutional Integration

The service is already live across 40+ blockchains. Early adopters include BitMEX, Lighter, ApeX, and Orderly Network, all of which operate high-volume perpetual contract markets that require sub-second updates to prevent arbitrage exploitation.

By bringing the $80 trillion U.S. equities market on-chain with institutional-grade fidelity, Chainlink is positioning itself as the settlement layer for the next generation of “Real World Asset” (RWA) products. The move signals a shift from simple tokenization to active, algorithmic trading of traditional assets on decentralized rails.
